smash-ed-ness and ouch.
today i almost got hit by a car. and i am both pissed and shaken as a result. so here we go: you know the crosswalk near Roosevelt but on the corner of South on the bike path? i approach the crosswalk on my bike, and notice the large amount of traffic. i stop my bike and wait. a kind hearted driver in the lane across from me/ the second lane stops, and so i look to make sure the lane closest to me is clear. it is, except for this van that is a ways away. but i figure they will stop. oh but no. the presence of fucking crosswalk signs everywhere, seeing the cars stopping in the other direction, and, duh, seeing ME the fucking biker in the middle of the road, you'd think a smart intelligent and humanity-loving person would stop. gracious no. this ass hole blazes through, and I am halfway in his lane before he slams his brakes on. i see a lovely mental image of myself flying through the air as i am hit my the car, and i think of how good it was that i decided to wear my helmet for the brief and hot ride to my car from work. he doesn't hit me, but i, misjudging my distance from the curb, slam my brakes on in turn, thinking i could stop out of his way. and as a result, i slide off my seat, forcefully hitting my womanly center and pelvis bone on my bike bar thingy. OUCH. i definately do the deer in the headlights look plus the i will be so pissed if you hit me look at the driver, and the fucker, once he stops, and i hear all the collective gasps from the cars/ people around released in relief that i was not hit, waves me on through the crosswalk. (say that with the most sarcasm and drippingly... nasty voice ever) i awkwardly waddle across his lane, then actually deign get on my bike in the middle of the crosswalk divider thingy, and ride off in a cloud of cursing and relief that was over. good gracious!!!! people are such retards! now granted i probably should not have assumed that car was going to stop for me, but he was so far away.... and the other car was stopped..... what an ass hole. gracious.but on a happy note, work was incredibly fun today. me and denae were laughing so much, and brett and casey (a guy) were joking around with us a bunch. and it was not that hot out. and i finally finished the one room i had been in since yesterday afternoon, it took me like.... 3 hours to finish deep cleaning the whole thing. bloody hell. but anyways. dinner smells wonderful, i am going to go talk with my mom now. woo.
